Maintenance
Solid Seal Group Inc encourages its customers to consider the Solid Coverage maintenance program. The thought of proactive maintenance on a roof may be easy to overlook. However, protecting the roof over your head is as vital as the maintenance on your vehicle. We maintain our vehicles because getting from Point A to Point B is important. Our facilities should be treated the same way.
Preventative maintenance twice a year will include such items as…
- Visual inspection of the roof decking
- Inspection and minor repairs to membrane issues
- New sealant where necessary
- Top up penetration pockets where necessary
- Re-paint rusted gas line “safety yellow”
- Provide adequate gas line supports as per industry standard
- Remove debris and vegetation
- Inspect drains
- Mobile Moisture Scan (if requested)
- Labeled roof plan
When the maintenance is complete, there will be a report generated with information gathered and photos of the work completed.

Systems
Single Ply Membrane
Single-ply roofing materials can be installed directly on the approved roofing substrate. This can drastically reduce installation time, material cost and also allows for easier installation. The performance, cost and installation advantages of single-ply materials compared to traditional multi-layered systems has greatly increased their acceptance in the market. There are three popular types of single-ply low-slope roof projects: EPDM, PVC and TPO.
Modified Bitumen Membrane
Modified Bitumen roofing materials consist of a base ply membrane and a granulated cap ply membrane. This system has been a popular option for many years but could only be installed with hot asphalt or a torch-on application. The risk has been mitigated with the major manufacturers developing a self adhered system with a similar end result.
B.U.R. System
BUR is time-tested and is still a popular option today because of it. BUR is installed by imbedding roofing felts in a hot liquid asphalt. This process is done multiple times, common selections are 3, 4 or 5-layer systems, completed with a coverage of pea stone gravel for UV protection. With multiple layers involved in installing a BUR system, this choice tends to be robust and durable.
Shingle Roofing
There are many different manufacturers who design and manufacture shingles for a both residential and commercial application. There are a variety of options and warranties offered with these selections. New construction or reroof installation should be very similar consisting of underlayment protection and new accessories including vents, valleys, etc.
